Dangote moved from 76th with a net worth of $11.2billion in 2012 to 43rd with a net worth of $16.1bn as of March 2013. So he made about $5billion in one year! Choi!

Ronaldo opens door for Manchester United return after 'very emotional' night

The former Red Devil appeared to be apologetic after scoring the decisive goal in Real Madrid's Champions League last 16 victory at Old Trafford on Tuesday night
By Greg Stobart at Old Trafford

Cristiano Ronaldo has left the door open for a return to Manchester United after firing Real Madrid in to the Champions League quarter-finals on a “very emotional” night at Old Trafford.

Real Madrid knocked Sir Alex Ferguson’s side out of Europe's elite competition on Tuesday night with a 3-2 aggregate victory thanks to Ronaldo’s second-half strike on his first game at Old Trafford since his world record £80 million transfer in 2009.

Ronaldo received a hero’s reception from the home crowd and admitted it was a night of mixed emotions against his former club - who he has refused to rule out representing again despite insisting he is happy in Spain.

Ronaldo said: “The future you never know but the supporters here [at United] and the club, it's massive. The future you never know but at this moment I'm very happy at Real Madrid and I want to be here.

“It was an unbelievable night. It was very emotional.  What the supporters did for me was massive, I’m never going to forget this moment. I don’t have words for it.

“On one hand I’m happy for Madrid to go through but on the other side I’m sad because it’s not easy to forget. This was my home for six years, the people were very nice with me. I came here as a child.

“It’s quite strange - in both games I felt a little shy in my game. It’s a feeling you cannot explain - it’s just a feeling. I support and I am with the white collar, so these feelings stay in this stadium, the Theatre of Dreams.”

“I went to the dressing room to speak to all the players, to the coach, to the president, to the Glazers.”

Real Madrid booked their place in the quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory on the night having drawn 1-1 in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, where Ronaldo got los Blancos' goal.

It completed an excellent week for the Spanish giants in which they beat bitter rivals Barcelona twice in four days, first in the Copa del Rey and then La Liga.

“It was an unbelievable week,” Ronaldo added. “We won both games against Barcelona and now Manchester United. It was great. We are in good shape, we want to carry on like that because we want to try to win this competition.”

Dear LIB readers: Should I go back to my matrimonial home?

From a LIB reader

This is a true story and I need your urgent advise. I left my matrimonial home in January after I found out another woman was pregnant for my husband. I was six months pregnant then and the other lady was five. This woman is my husband's ex who he kept sleeping with until our wedding in September 2012. He told me he hasn't touched her since we got married but he got her pregnant a month before our wedding. I'm eight months pregnant now and I'm very angry and disappointed in myself for choosing a man who has humiliated so much. My family and friends are begging me to go back home, give my marriage a chance and have my baby there, but I don't know that I want to do that. I'm staying at my parents house at the moment and yes my husband is also begging. So on top of being angry, I'm also confused.

RMD denies N50 million fraud, my hands are clean he says

RMD and Toolz at Iyanya's concert in Lagos
According to Sahara Reporters, star actor and current Delta State commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Richard Mofe Damijo, is at the centre of an alleged fraudulent transfer of funds which the EFCC is supposedly currently investigating. The report claimed that RMD and the acting GM of the Delta State Tourism Board, Mrs Philo Nkem Ajufo, squandered N50 million belonging to the ministry (Google the story, it's all over the net).

RMD has finally reacted to the allegations, insisting it's not true.

"I won't respond to Sahara Reports. When it's time, I will. And I'm sure you know it's not true" He told Encomium magazine on March 3rd.
RMD and Toolz hosted Iyanya's concert on Saturday and the governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan was in the audience. The most interesting part of this allegation is that EFCC is yet to alert the nation of any fraud in Delta State.

Champions League: Manchester United's Phil Jones ruled out of Real Madrid tie

Phil Jones has been ruled out of Manchester United's Champions League clash with Real Madrid after he failed to recover from an ankle injury.
The sides drew 1-1 in the first leg of the last 16 tie in Spain, with Jones widely praised for his role in frustrating Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu.
But he has not featured since injuring his ankle in the 2-1 victory over Reading on 18 February and the England international has now lost his race to be fit.

67yr old grandma found dead in SA after meeting with Nigerian man she met online

A widowed grandmother who travelled to South Africa to marry the man she loved has been found dead under suspicious circumstances in a Johannesburg guest house.
West Australian woman Jette Jacobs, 67 (pictured left), was found in February, two days after she met up with a man calling himself Jesse Orowo Omokoh, 28. (pictured right)
The pair had met on an online dating website.
Ms Jacobs had travelled to Africa to meet the Nigerian before, in a long distance relationship spanning three years and seeing the widow part with $200,000.
But this time they were to be married. She wanted to settle in Nigeria. Her children had begged her to stay in WA. Her body was discovered in her rented villa by South African police on February 9.
Mr Omokoh, who would report to being the last person to see her alive, vanished after speaking to police.

One of Ms Jacobs' six children, who did not want to be identified, told 6PR radio in Perth on Monday her mother had been to South Africa four times, initially to meet another man.

"She wasn't naive when it came to other countries, we lived in Malaysia for many years," she said.
When the woman's brother received a phone call from a South African guest house, the siblings who had warned their mother against what they believed was a scam relationship, were in disbelief.
"I thought it was a hoax and I wouldn't believe that my mother had actually passed so I rang the consulate," the woman said.

"A couple of hours later they called me back and gave me their apologies."
A joint operation between WA Police and Consumer Protection, codenamed Project Sunbird, had sent Ms Jacobs a letter warning that she may be the victim of fraud, but it was too late.

By the time the letter arrived in Ms Jacobs' mailbox she had already left for her ill-fated trip.
When her children met with detectives in South Africa, they discovered her money, jewellery, laptop and credit cards were all missing.

And then there was an empty pill bottle found near her.

"Anybody who knew my mother would know that there is no way that she would do that," her daughter told 6PR.

"This has gone on for four years and after four years there is a very strong element of trust that has been built."

One of Ms Jacobs' sons warned others not to head overseas to meet people they've met online.  "It could be a one-way ticket," he said.

Major fraud squad detective Dom Blackshaw said WA Police were now involved in the investigation and treating the death as "suspicious".

"These relationship frauds are being perpetrated by ruthless overseas criminals who are members of organised crime syndicates," he said.

"To travel to Africa to visit someone you have met on the internet is extremely dangerous and could, as in the case of Ms Jacobs, cost your life.

Michel Platini claims a pan-continental Euro 2020 will be good for fans

Michel Platini has claimed the pan-continental Euro 2020 will be good for fans - and gave a boost to British hopes of hosting some matches.
President Platini said UEFA had held talks with fans group Football Supporters Europe and convinced it that the "zany" format of holding games in 13 matches across Europe would benefit the majority of supporters.
The Football Association will bid for Wembley to host the final while Wales and Scotland will also bid for Euro 2020 games.
Platini told reporters at a briefing in Nyon: "We have talked to the fans. They were against it originally but we told them we are going to help them and suddenly they had a much more positive attitude.
"Certainly it will be easier for the English to go to Wales and Scotland to watch a match instead of having to travel the world. We have some decisions to make now - some political, some geographical - for example we cannot have an English fan going to Lisbon, Kazakhstan and Sweden.
"We will have an intelligent solution - not chasing the fans all over Europe.
"The Euros are coming to the fans and taking matches to quite a number of countries.
"We have met with supporters' associations recently and have reassured them we will do whatever is possible to make sure fans get the necessary support when they travel."
Platini himself came up with the idea of staging the tournament but he said it had been supported by every European country apart from Turkey, who had hoped to host the Euros on its own.
He added: "I just bring forward ideas and then national associations have their own meetings and workshops and 52 out of 53 said yes, I don't decide, the national associations have decided.
"Poland and Ukraine was a great Euro but it was very expensive, almost as expensive as the Olympic Games. It is perhaps a bit of a zany idea but it is a good idea."
Platini added that he wanted the finals and semi-finals to be in one city - and the FA will put London forward as a candidate.
He said: "I'm in favour the final phase being in one city to give it more importance, that's my idea. The executive committee will decide whether it's a good or bad idea."
"I think this would create a very special atmosphere among the supporters and it will be a week of national teams and it could be a great party."
Platini said FIFA president Sepp Blatter had congratulated him on the Euro 2020 idea - and that he is succeeding where the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi failed.
Gaddafi had suggested moving the African Nations Cup around the continent, and Platini said: "I got congratulations from the president of FIFA, he said it is a marvellous idea. He said somebody wanted to do it a few years ago with the African Nations Cup and it was Gaddafi."
He also hit back at criticism from FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke pointing out that the world governing body had ratified Japan and Mexico playing in South American competitions.
"FIFA accepts Mexico and Japan taking part in the Copa America and that is much more against the spirit than what we are suggesting," said Platini.
The UEFA president also insisted he wants to support the Europa League rather than scrap it - an interview he gave to a French newspaper last week led to reports UEFA are considering getting rid of the tournament and having a 64-club Champions League.
He added: "All I said is that there is a reflection going on to figure out what shape we want - we are discussing it, nothing is decided.
"I never said I am going to stop the Europa League. We have to look at all 53 countries and I believe the Europa League is great and that we need to support it and continue with it. It is a very popular competition.
"I am never going to organise competition for money's sake, only in the interests of football."

Nigerian Idol top8: a big night for 3 contestants, but will it save them?

Another night, and another fantastic episode of the smash reality television show, Nigerian Idol. After the rather painful departure of Joe Emmal and Amara, eight contestants are now left on the show, and they are bent on demonstrating to Nigeria that they have what it takes to be named the next Nigerian Idol.

This week the theme was centred on songs from the greatest groups of all time, from The Temptations to the Pussycat Dolls. The contestants were on fire on Sunday night and with guest judge, first lady of rap Sasha P sitting on the panel, it was truly an amazing night. Sasha told the audience, “I'm waiting to be wowed by everybody...I'm rooting for every one of them and I'm waiting to be entertained

The show began with the top eight belting out a song that personifies the disco era—‘We are Family’ by Sister Sledge, before Danny Angus tried his hand at the monster classic from the 60s, ‘My Girl’ by The Temptations. For the night, Danny shed the glasses and hit the notes but he got a mixed reaction from the judges. While Jeffrey said to him, “You pitched yourself low so you weren't able to do what you do,” Yinka Davies disagreed. “I'm your girl anytime,” she said.

Abasiakan got one of the strongest reviews of the night when he tried on Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes’ classic, 'If You Don’t Know Me by Now'. Sasha told him, “You seemed to enjoy your performance and I connected with it.” Femi Kuti was equally effusive, telling him, “You have range and your tuning is perfect.”

The song choices left the doo-wop era and took a quick fast-forward into the modern era, with Kome choosing a song from the nineties; ‘All My Life’ by KC & Jojo. She did not fare well with the judges, and Sasha tried to bolster her spirits by telling her, “I could see that you were nervous, that is an amazing song.” Jeffrey told her that while it was her most solid performance yet, there was still a lot of work to be done.

JayFeel chose a fairly safe song from the early 2000’s—Backstreet Boys’ ‘Larger than Life’—and was all over the stage thanks to some slick dance moves. Femi told him, “You consistently choose songs that you can handle...I can easily say you are the best performer of the show.” Sasha was more forthcoming telling him bluntly, “You definitely need to work on your vocal abilities, but I would buy a ticket to your show.”

Sefeeyat chose the poignant ballad by N'Sync, titled ‘This I Promise You’. Jeffrey told her, “I'm not familiar with this song but you made me like it. You keep getting better.” However there was some dissent from Femi Kuti on the panel as he tried to get a sense of why she missed some critical notes. “You need to focus on your confidence,” he advised. “I sense a lot of hesitance.”

Torres - Spain set standard Golden Boot winner reflects on Euro 2012 success

Fernando Torres believes that in winning Euro 2012, record-breaking Spain have set the standard by which future international success will be measured.
Vicente del Bosque's all-conquering outfit swept Italy aside on Sunday to claim back-to-back European Championship titles and their third consecutive tournament crown.
Torres stepped off the bench in Kiev to net Spain's third goal in a 4-0 hammering of the Azzurri, helping himself to the Golden Boot in the process.
He has been a leading figure in a squad which has now conquered the continent twice and lifted the 2010 World Cup, and the Chelsea striker feels Spain have taken the pursuit of international success to a new level.
Torres told Marca: "You can't ask for more, but it is the work of the team and the togetherness that has brought us here.
"You always want to win more and more, but right now we have to enjoy this. We have won by a distance against a great team like Italy.
"We are very happy. This was the objective that we had at the start of the tournament.
